CITY BALLET OF LOS ANGELES
HAPPY NEW YEAR
It’s 2005 and City Ballet of Los Angeles is moving right along and
making strides.
The year started out with a new program at the Salvation Army in South
Central LA. The executive director Mortimer Jones invited CBLA to start
a new dance program in their new facility. Bringing dance into a new
community has its challenges: more outreach and more staff. We are
only able to teach one class a week at this location, but we look forward
to lifting this program up.
NUTCRACKER 2006
That’s right we are looking for people
that would like to be apart of bringing a
holiday tradition to life in Los Angeles.
Would you like to be a part of the
nutcracker committee? If so please
contact Mrs. Mason at 323.292.1932.
We will hold our first meeting in July
2005.
BIG NEWS FOR CBLA
We have received our first grant from the Durfee Foundation, an
organization that supports grass-root non-profits that are community based.
Red Shield Youth & Community Center continues their support in donating
space for CBLA. We give thanks to these organizations.

put her love of dance into all of her students, most of who went on
to become professional dancers Darci Kistler, Jock Soto, Andrea
Tallis just name a few. Come enjoy performances by the students
of the school and the company and a lovely afternoon reception.
THE HENRY FONDA WAS HOT
The Company performed a new Ballet by artistic director Robyn
Gardenhire “Behind The Red Door”, a jazz noir cabaret to the music of
John Coltrane, at the Henry Fonda Theater last summer. The show featured
singers Sloan Robinson, James Love and a live band lead by Mr. Ralph
Gibson. This ballet is a fun and entertaining evening for all. If you didn’t
get a chance to see the show, look for us  in June.
