CITY BALLET OF LOS ANGELES
The Studio Company

The Studio Company of the City Ballet of Los Angeles has a three-fold
purpose. It will be applied as: 1) an educational tool used to foster
enthusiasm and incite public awareness; 2) an apprenticeship bridge for
students to become professionals; and 3) a vehicle to procure support
from possible patrons by displaying an abbreviated version of
performance pieces. These exhibitions from the Studio Company will
lecture on the full breath of a dancer’s career (the creative process,
lifestyle, history and dance levels), while students gain performance
experience and develop a professional etiquette. There will be four
professional dancers and six apprentices participating in the Studio
Company who will be ideally drawn from CBLA. The Studio Company will
demonstrate the innumerable possibilities awaiting the establishment of
the City Ballet of Los Angeles in concert form.

The School
An equally important part of the City Ballet of Los Angeles & School is the
teaching program. We eagerly look forward to the long-range possibilities
inherent in cultivation professional dancers in Los Angeles. We believe that
introducing ballet to children opens the door to music, theater and their
imagination. Students will master the classics, learn original works, and
execute their craft in a cherished home environment.

The program will consist of dance lectures and in-class training from
beginning ballet to professional level ballet. Children selected from the Los
Angeles Unified School District through the audition process, and ages six
through twelve will train three times a week for one hour in the first year.
Thereafter, students will be asked to continue the program only if they meet
the criteria of ability and desire. We will also open classes to the general
public in all levels on the weekends and in the evenings for a nominal fee.
